How To Care For Your Wooden Wick

How To Care For Your Wooden Wick

With the rise in popularity of wooden wicks, you would be mistaken if you believed you’re good to go every chance you light up. Let’s take a look at some tips and tricks to get the best out of your wooden wicks:

  1. Trim your wick.

Your wick works best between ¼ to ⅛ inch above the wax line. If it’s too tall, the wax will not pull up and the wick will go out. But if it’s too short, the wick will drown in the melted wax.

(Pro Tip: Wick too short? Pour out a bit of the melted wax into your trash, or soak up the excess wax with a paper towel – this is probably the easier option, but hey, you’ve got options.)

Once you’ve enjoyed your candle for a bit,  be sure to trim off the charred part of the wick before you light your candle again. Otherwise, you may find it difficult to keep the wick alive.

You’ll know you’ve reached the end of your candle’s life when you see the metal wick clip and your wick won’t stay lit. Time to stock up on your favorite scents or discover new ones!

That’s all you need to know to properly take care of your wicks - - now you can light up your candles and truly sit back and relax.
